Answers to Oxford's Cemetery Expansion Plans

Mayor Pat Patterson assures his constituents that the expansion of Oxford's cemetery will be positive for the city, especially "in a few years."

Even though cemeteries are dying fast due to alternate forms, such as cremation, Oxford's cemetery the Oxford Memorial Cemetery was approved to expand its grave sites by 800 niches.  The town has become skeptical of these sudden plans, especially with the family members of those who are already buried in the graveyard.
Bart Robinson, City Engineer who proposed the project's structure to the board, reassured the people by saying,
"You may get some concerns because we're going to be working very close to graves, but they will not be disturbed."
Other than the opposition of construction being so close to occupied graves, people have also been skeptical of whether or not 800-niche is an excessive amount being added to the cemetery.  Oxford mayor Pat Patterson, however, agrees with the need of such a large expansion because of the quick, sold out spaces of the recently built private church cemetery.
Also, in response to this, Alderman Janice Antonow said, "It may not be right away, but in a few years we're going to fill that place up."
