Reaction to Why the Web Still Matters

Ben Thompson is right on point with why the Web matters. He is very clear how the Web is now being turned into apps and our access to the it is become easier and easier. While the Web becomes our companion, as Thompson puts it, people will keep going to it. The Web has gotten larger, and it's usage in the writing world still matters. Thompson is very clear that the Web is not dead, it's just changing form. Thompson compares it to water: "it fills in all the gaps between things like gaming and social with exactly what any one particular user wants," he writes. This is a very astute observation. People can now access the content they want much easier than before. This means that they can read what they want without going to a "general interest" page as Thompson puts it. I agree with Thompson's blog post. The Web is not dead, in fact, it's probably become more alive with mobile devices and specialty apps that allow us, the consumer, to focus and consume what we want, instead of wading through the "general interest newspapers," as Thompson puts it. This is a very well written piece, and I agree with it.
