Reactions to "Why the Web still matters"

In an age where everything seems to be going viral and everyone seems to be savvy with the latest technology, it is odd to find an article defending the use of the internet. Most of the controversial conversations about the death of an age bases around printed writing, this article on the importance of the internet, however, focuses on the decline of browser usage. The article proclaims the downfall of the internet as old news that he is merely sharing his opinion on and, through links, graphics, and well phrased excerpts, he leads the reader to believe him. Then, to contradict himself and the evidence, Thompson proceeds to say that this isn't true, the internet isn't dying and, in fact, it can't. I, for one, had never separated app usage from internet usage. When my wifi or other form of service is down so is my app and I connected them by this link. It was some sort of revelation just to think that apps did not inherently rely on the internet and so could not be the culprit for its demise. The article referenced many others and brought light to a subject to which I had not given thought. It introduced a point, gave an opinion on the subject and gave evidence to support the opinion. In that fashion it did everything an opinion article should do.
