OHS takes Prom precautions

Oxford High School hopes to warn students against drunk driving for prom night.

Mock accident shows student thrown through the windshield after being involved in the DUI crash.

As Oxford High School students are preparing for their junior/senior prom, the Oxford School District hopes to save lives of their students. For many, prom is an unforgettable, magical night, but with rising numbers in deaths involved with driving under the influence, it's hard to turn a blind eye for this particular night.

In preparation for prom, Oxford High hosted a mock DUI wreck on the school campus for their juniors and seniors to watch. Junior and Senior drama department students came together for a performance of a lifetime. Jody Fogerty, Meaghan Kennedy, Hayden Hudson, and Dan Hudson all took part in this crash reenactment. OPD will be out Saturday and in full force watching the roads for intoxicated drivers and students will be subject to random breathalyzers as they enter and exit prom.
