The Web is Alive and Well

I am in full agreement with Ben Thompson's sentiments in his blog post "Why the Web Still Matters for Writing." He proves his point both quantitively, by disproving data gathered by Flurry Analytics, and practically with real world examples and a metaphor comparing the web to water that fills in the gaps left by apps. Going beyond Thompson's assertions, I believe that web will continue to thrive because of its strength as a firmly established resource, as opposed to apps which are largely fad driven. Years from now, people will likely still be using apps, but they will not necessarily be Facebook and Twitter. The web will continue because it is seen as a resource in an of itself, rather than a brand name for narrow information.
