The OHS Urges Students to Resist Drunk Driving

OXFORD - Mock wreck drives home the dangers of drunk driving.

Oxford High School, in anticipation of the sanctioned craziness that is Prom Night, gathered junior and senior students together yesterday for an assembly called the Prom Promise, where a reenactment of a drunk driving collision was given to show the dangers of driving while intoxicated.

The scene, which was acted by OHS's very own drama department, also included contributions from the Oxford Police Department, Fire Department, and other emergency services, as students watched in third person just how dangerous such an event could be.

The Prom Promise has had generally positive reviews, and the timing could not have been any better; just over the summer, an Ole Miss student was convicted for causing an accident that killed two students while he was under the influence.
